Position is responsible for providing a variety of skilled work related to the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Performs tasks associated with the installation, modification and repair of gas and oil commercial boiler systems and related equipment; performs related work as required.
Schedule - 7:00 a.m - 3:30 p.m. Summer working hours are 6:00 a.m. thru 4:30 p.m. Mon- Thru.
Preventative Maintenance schedule - 12:00 p.m. thru 8:30 p.m. Mon-Fri, Summer working hours are 6:00am thru 4:30 p.m. Mon- Thru.
Trade school course work in HVAC systems / installation, apprenticeship program, or applied job experience which provides the required knowledge.
Thorough knowledge of practices, tools and terminology of the HVAC trade; understanding of the theory of heat exchange and air circulation and knowledge of electricity as it applies to HVAC equipment.
Thorough knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods, practices and tools used in the commercial gas, oil and electric heating trade required.
Requires working knowledge of a variety of heating plant systems including design, operation, maintenance, repair and parts variations.
Must be skilled in the use of tools, equipment, and materials pertinent to the heating plant trade.
Perform well under emergency repair or changing work priority situations and the ability to regularly learn new technology, to follow written and oral instructions, diagrams, blueprints, schematics (mechanical, electrical and electronic) and manufacturer’s manuals, to estimate time and materials needed for small jobs and to perform routine record keeping tasks and arithmetic computations.
Requires the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
Must possess a valid Virginia Driver License or valid CDL. Must obtain CDL within 60 days of hiring, at employer expense.
