The ideal candidate will have:
Considerable knowledge of data processing principles in applications, programming and system development.
Experience dealing with the maintenance, design and/or development of complex relational database systems using SQL in a networked environment. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and an understanding of stored procedures and triggers preferred.
Experience using productivity tools such as Access, Excel, SQL Server Manager, etc. to develop relational database applications in a networked environment.
Experience developing applications in at least one high level programming or software development language such as Visual Basic, C, C#, Pascal, Basic, XML, etc. Knowledge of web-based programming languages and techniques preferred.
Experience using a report writer tool such as Crystal Reports, R&R Relational Report Writer or Access.
Experience using a methodical approach to troubleshooting and documentation
Experience creating detailed documentation of processes and procedures.
Experience dealing directly with customers.
Additionally, a bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Science and three years of experience as described above or any equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the job requirements.
Essential responsibilities include the ability to:
Coordinates all state and federal reporting activities with division personnel and state agencies to ensure timely data submissions.
Interprets policies and procedures relating to state and federal requirements; serves as the division liaison to ensure the school division is in compliance with all reporting requirements.
Works with team members to ensure division data accurately reflects the necessary state and federal reporting items.
Compiles a thorough, comprehensible, filing structure to retain all state and federal reporting files and documents.
Coordinates all activities relating to state and federal reporting audits.
Compiles data and files for use with educational grants.
Stays abreast of all changes to state and federal reporting items regarding the student information system and data warehouse; performs necessary setup and modifications needed in the student information system and data warehouse to ensure data quality and timely data submissions.
Develops processes and best practices for procedures, communication and delivery of reports in the student information system and data warehouse as they pertain to state and federal reporting.
Assists in the development of division-wide data files for data warehousing and academic reporting.
Assists in the delivery of training to division staff regarding the use of reports generated from the student information system and data warehouse along with the appropriate data entry items needed for state and federal requirements.
Designs, develops and proceeds to plan, organize and implement projects independently.
Collects, compiles, and analyzes data to evaluate data integrity in the student information system and data warehouse.
Assumes sole responsibility for all aspects of specific applications/systems, serves as the point of contact for all customer issues, and coordinates implementation and maintenance issues.
Provides data exchanges between other applications as necessary.
Responds to all problems with assigned products, i.e., be the in-house expert and serves as the primary support contact between the School Division and software developers/vendors for applications being used by other division employees.
Meets with customers to discuss needs and requirements. Prepares formal specifications which state?s needs, proposes solutions, and describes steps necessary for implementation.
A Valid Virginia drivers? license and insurability is required.
